Ensuring Your Electrical Safety
Grant Keddle Electrical’s EICR Services
Are your electrics safe? Your home’s electrical systems must meet safety standards to protect you and your loved ones. The most reliable way to assess their safety is through an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR), conducted by a qualified electrician. In the UK, EICRs are recommended every 10 years for domestic properties and every five years for rented homes. Before selling a property, it’s essential to have it tested so that buyers are aware of the electrical system’s condition. Commercial premises often require more frequent checks, and certain properties, like thatched roof houses, may need an EICR for insurance purposes.
If it’s been some time since your last electrical test, don’t hesitate to reach out to us via our interactive quote form. We’ll provide you with a quick cost estimate, and for a relatively small investment, you’ll gain invaluable peace of mind. Simply ask for an “Electrical Installation Condition Report” or “EICR.”
What Happens During an EICR?
An EICR consists of two main components: visual checks and electrical tests. During the visual inspection, we examine lights, sockets, wiring, bonding, earthing, and the consumer unit to assess their condition and compliance with safety regulations.
Electrical tests involve applying a current to circuits to measure earthing resistance and insulation levels in wiring. We also verify polarity and ensure the RCD (trip switch) functions correctly within specified parameters.
After each inspection, we provide comprehensive reports that can be shared with insurers and tenants if necessary. If any safety issues are identified, we document them with accompanying photos and offer a free, itemized quote for necessary repairs.
Your safety is our priority at Grant Keddle Electrical. Contact us today to schedule your EICR and ensure the electrical safety of your property!
